Family Worship Sunday

We heard from Pastor Tyler that on the journey of faith, our mission is to carry the treasure of the gospel of Jesus from generation to generation. Here are some questions your family can discuss around the table this week!
Scroll down further for a copy of the communion liturgy your family can share.
  • Tell about a time when you were tempted to give up and quit. What kept you going?
  • Give an example of what it looks like for you to carry Jesus into your school, workplace or friendship circle.
  • What are some ways we can keep the light of God burning brightly in our home? Which one can we commit to practice this coming week?
  • We are all imperfect and fragile jars of clay. Tell one of your family members something you see in them that reminds you of Jesus to encourage him or her.

Family Communion

We ended our Family Worship Service by observing communion together. Click the download link for a PDF copy of the communion liturgy we shared, so that you can use it at home with your family!

Family, we come to the Table again.
Not as those who have it all together, but as those who gratefully receive the grace of God.
Lord, we come, simply as Yours. This is not a table we built. It is a table we were invited to. This is not a meal we prepared; it is a feast prepared for us… before we even knew we were hungry.
On the night He was betrayed, Jesus took bread.
He did not wait for peace to arrive; He revealed peace in the breaking. He took what was whole and broke it, saying, “This is My body, broken for you.”
And as we hold this bread, we remember.
After supper, He took the cup, saying, “This is My blood, the new covenant, poured out for you.”
And as we hold this cup, we remember.
This is the story of His finished work. Every accusation loses its voice here at Your table. Every weary person finds rest here.
Jesus, we thank You that in Your breaking, we are made whole; that in Your pouring out, we are filled.
And in this simple, sacred meal You remind us of who we are: We are Your sons and daughters, deeply loved, fully known, completely Yours.
And as we rise from this Table, we do not leave Your presence. We carry it. Let our lives become a living thanksgiving, a visible sign of Your invisible grace.
Now
Take the bread, and as you give it to one another, say,
“The body of Christ… broken for you.”
…and receive together.
Take the cup, and as you offer it, say,
“The blood of Christ… shed for you.”
…and receive together.
Now, take a moment to give thanks together.
As family who have just received and now freely give thanks to the Lord.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
